As we approach the pivotal municipal elections on March 6, 2024, we are honored to present our campaign manifesto - a blueprint for a thriving and inclusive Belmopan. Together, let's embark on a journey to Move Belmopan FORWARD.

In an era marked by rapid change and evolving community needs, the New PUP City Council Team steps forward with a renewed vision for Belmopan. We recognize the aspirations and concerns of every resident, and our commitment rests on pillars of efficiency, transparency, accountability, and modernization. Gone are the days of opaque processes; we pledge a transparent administration. Our goal is to usher in a new era of governance that not only meets but anticipates the needs of our dynamic city, laying the groundwork for a Belmopan that stands as a beacon of progress.

Central to our mission is the principle of unity, fostering a cohesive city where every voice matters. Inclusiveness is not just a buzzword for us - it's a guiding philosophy. We champion diversity and believe that a united community is the bedrock of a prosperous city. With new leadership at the helm, we're poised to steer Belmopan towards a future brimming with opportunities. Together, with a collective effort and shared vision, we are committed to Moving Belmopan Forward, ensuring that every resident feels the positive impact of our transformative approach.

1. Infrastructural Development

Repair and maintain city streets and drains, in an efficient manner
Construct new access streets and new drains
Maintain existing walkways
Acquire new equipment to facilitate works

2. Sanitation Management

Increase frequency of household garbage collection in under-served areas
Install more garbage bins across the City
Promote garbage recycling across the City
Improve debris collection
Acquire large garbage bins for rental to the business community
Conduct public awareness campaign on sanitation
Address bushy/overgrown lots
Acquire new sanitation equipment

3. Traffic Management

Digitize driver's permit and vehicle license system
Digitize monitoring and enforcement of traffic regulations
Improve parking access across the city
Improve traffic flow management

4. Community Development

Improve Safety and Security of the City

In partnership with the Police Department, install Community Surveillance Camera System
Support neighborhood watch groups
Install lights for safer walkways

Parks/Green Areas

Maintain green areas, parks, buffers and walkways efficiently
Develop parks for safe, family-friendly environments
Install solar lights in parks

Promote Healthy Living

Encourage Home Gardens
Establish more safe Exercise/Walk Routes
Walking path in Parks
Pedestrian friendly Streets (main arteries)
Creekside Walking Pathway

City Events/Entertainment

Roaming Night Market across the City
Increase family events at parks (concerts, family days, etc.)
Encourage more social events and sporting activities
Promote cultural activities and cultural tourism

Strengthen Community Outreach

Formalize existing and establish new relationships with Private Sector
Hold regular local neighborhood meetings and visits
Strengthen public awareness and outreach (including social media)

Strengthen the Sustainable Child Friendly Municipality Initiative
Encourage and incentivize civic pride and engagement

5. Local Economic Development

Re-establish Local Economic Development Office to facilitate ease of business
Strengthen Project Development in the Council for alternative funding
Establish a Business Investment Department
Establish a Belmopan Business Bureau

6. Institutional Strengthening of Belmopan City Council

Lobby for Belmopan Municipal Court
Modernize the administration of services to the public
Expand City Council Compound (relocate heavy equipment)
Strengthen Administrative and Financial management of the council
Support existing and seek new sister-city relationships
